TLT was named 'Corporate Law Firm of the Year' at the South West Dealmakers Awards 2018, cementing its leading reputation as the go-to firm for corporate services in the region.
In the last year, the Bristol team has acted on a significant number of deals including the sale of Stirling Dynamics to Assystem Technologies, which won 'Deal of the Year' (under £15m).
Associate James Webb was also named 'Young Dealmaker of the Year' in an unusual move for the judges, who admitted it is unusual for a lawyer to walk away with this title but they were "blown away by his achievements and sheer potential", making it a hat trick for TLT.
The judges said that TLT has delivered "consistent service on some significant deals in the region" in the last year and that the Stirling deal was a "stand-out transaction", describing it as "very well-managed" and "complex".
TLT's entry highlighted several other major deals for fast-growth and larger businesses, including in the retail and leisure, digital, clean energy and financial services sectors and including private equity and venture capital investments and cross-border transactions.
TLT's lawyers take an active role in the South West start-up and business community including through their work with incubators, business schools, UWE law school and university spin-outs.
John Wood, head of corporate at TLT, says: "The quality of professional services in the South West is outstanding so I am incredibly proud of the team for bringing home three awards this year. Special mention goes to James Webb for his incredibly well-deserved award. His dynamic and innovative approach to overcoming challenges and consistently delivering excellence for his clients is an example of the best the South West advisory community has to offer.
"We have built one of the largest corporate teams in the South West and I am looking forward to continuing to grow our team in the South West and nationally and to deliver a stand-out service for our clients."
