In response to growing client demand, TLT has appointed Paul Evans, former strategic adviser at the Metropolitan Police (the Met) in the new role of head of commercial consulting.
Paul will lead the team offering clients dedicated commercial advice on major procurements and commercial management of goods, IT and services, helping the public and wider sectors to increase efficiency, manage risk and realise new commercial opportunities in procurement.
TLT launched its procurement and contract management advisory service as part of the firm’s FutureLaw strategy in 2019. The team operates alongside TLT’s full legal service, particularly in the blue light sector and other highly regulated, contract-intensive industries like financial services.
Paul will report to James Touzel, head of FutureLaw at TLT.
Paul brings a wealth of experience to the firm, having spent the last thirty years setting the strategic direction of IT and other procurements, agreeing procurement strategy and trouble-shooting on major projects for clients. His past clients include the Met and the Cabinet Office, and he has held senior innovation and transformation roles at Barclays, ABN Amro, RBS and Guinness.
James Touzel, head of FutureLaw at TLT, says: “Effective contracting is a core business need for our clients, and yet for many it can feel disjointed, labour intensive, inefficient and prone to risk. Our dedicated commercial consulting team has the capabilities to address these challenges, and with the additional benefit of being integrated with legal services when required.
“Client demand is growing rapidly and our team has won a number of high profile instructions in the last two years. Our near-legal consulting offering is a core part of our FutureLaw and wider firm strategies and I’m delighted to welcome Paul to help continue this growth.”
Paul Evans, head of commercial consulting at TLT, says: “Commercial teams are under considerable pressure to deliver more strategic value for less. TLT has grown a fantastic team that plays right into the heart of that, giving clients advice on how their strategy, processes, people and technology can be improved to realise new efficiencies and commercial opportunities and manage the risks.
“I’ve been really impressed with TLT’s foresight into what the market needs and its laser sharp focus on building services that meet client demand. I’m really looking forward to working with the team to take this fantastic offering to the wider market.”
