TLT has expanded its multi-jurisdictional licensing team, with the appointment of leading licensing lawyer Ewen Macgregor as partner and Jo Brown and Naomi Jenkins as legal assistants in Bristol.
Macgregor was previously head of regulatory & licensing at Gregg Latchams and brings more than 20 years' experience to TLT, including seven years as legal counsel for the Gala Coral Group.
The appointment further builds on TLT's specialisms in the leisure, food & drink and retail & consumer goods sectors, in which TLT acts for many of the UK's leading brands. Macgregor's clients include hotel, theatre, leisure, food and drink and motorway service station brands. He advises national and regional clients on a wide range of licensing and regulatory issues.
The new team will work with TLT's existing Band 1-listed licensing partners (Chambers 2020) Matthew Phipps ('Star individual') in Bristol, Stephen McGowan and Caroline Loudon in Scotland. Macgregor is Band 2 listed in the independent directory.
Matthew Phipps, partner at TLT, says: “Ewen, Jo and Naomi are a great addition to our already strong multi-jurisdictional licensing team. We see significant opportunities for growth and I am sure that their arrival will help us to go from strength to strength.”
Ewen Macgregor, partner at TLT, says: "TLT's licensing practice has long been recognised as a force to be reckoned with in the UK. I am particularly excited about the breadth and depth of services that we as a firm can offer to my clients, especially given TLT's strength in real estate law. TLT has a clear focus on its priority sectors and I am looking forward to growing my practice with the firm."
He was voted Licensing Lawyer of the Year UK at the Lawyer Monthly Legal Awards 2017 in recognition of his experience and success for clients.
Julia Lucas, partner and head of TLT's cross-discipline leisure, food and drink team, says: "Ewen brings with him a wealth of experience and is regarded as a leading light in gambling law. The appointments will significantly enhance our national offering for leisure and retail clients, and complement the breadth of services that we can offer to businesses in these sectors."
TLT's licensing team is also recognised by Legal 500 as Tier 1 in the South West and Scotland; Tier 2 in London; and Caroline, Matthew and Stephen are all recognised as leading individuals.
