TLT continues the growth of its Real Estate Group with the appointment of partner John Hyde in Manchester. John will join the firm from Weightmans in May 2017.
John has over 25 years' experience in the commercial property sector acting for a wide range of clients including Staples UK, Ikea (Pension Fund), JJB, Total Fitness and Lookers plc. He has also acted on significant transactions including the refinancing of the MEN Arena and the acquisition of the Office World retail chain for Staples UK. He is noted by legal 500 as ‘responsive and technically excellent’.
Prior to Weightmans, John led the development of the new Manchester office for property law specialists Semple Fraser. He also spent 22 years at DLA Piper (16 as partner), where he was head of the retail property team and a prominent member of the firm's international retail and leisure group.
TLT's head of real estate Maria Connolly commented:
"John's mix of real estate, retail and leisure experience is clearly a great strategic fit for TLT. His arrival at the firm is part of our push to build both a strong UK real estate group and focus further on the sector experience we can bring to the table when advising our clients."
This is the fourth partner hire for TLT's Real Estate Group in the last six months, with Judith Allen joining the firm in Belfast from A&L Goodbody, KWM's head of property litigation and joint head of UK real estate Jason Juden and retail specialist Matthew Cox from Cripps LLP joining in London and energy & renewables specialist Richard Turnbull from Pinsent Masons joining in Glasgow. The group is now over 180 strong across the UK, acting for clients including the BBC, EDF, Greene King, Savills, WHSmith, Pets at Home and the Mayor's Office for Policing & Crime.
