TLT has advised Triodos Bank, a leader in sustainable banking, on its acquisition of its national headquarters at Deanery Road in the centre of Bristol.
Spread over five floors, Triodos Bank’s 30,494 sq ft office space is one of the most sustainable in the UK, achieving a BREEAM ‘Excellent' score. The office is part of a mixed use scheme comprising mainly offices and apartments by real estate investor and developer UK & European.
The TLT team was led by partner and head of Energy & Renewables, Maria Connolly and included real estate legal director, Kerri Ashworth.
TLT’s Maria Connolly said: "Green values are at the heart of our client’s ethos; and this innovative energy efficient office space compliments and emphasises Triodos Bank’s commitment to sustainability. It’s great to see our long-standing client, an important financier of the renewables sector, making further investment in its future."
Triodos Bank’s UK managing director, Charles Middleton, said: "We’re delighted to have secured the purchase of our offices. The building is an ideal home for Triodos Bank and reflects our values and ethos. It not only meets exceptionally high environmental standards, but we’ve made sure the space reflects our approach to business, sustainable materials and showcasing the work of local artists and craftspeople. Buying the property cements our commitment to our Bristol location for the long-term and gives us greater flexibility with the space and a solid asset for the future."
Previously TLT has acted for Triodos Bank on a number of instructions including advising on all legal aspects of financing Ecotricity’s 9.2MW four turbine wind park at Galsworthy Farm, Devon, which will power approximately 5,000 UK homes a year.
