TLT advises The Co-operative Group on 28.7MW wind farm

TLT has advised The Co-operative Group on the development of the Twin Rivers Wind Farm; a 28.7MW 14 turbine project based at East Riding of Yorkshire. Once completed it will generate enough power for 18,500 homes.

Some of the key development issues that TLT advised on included securing various real estate rights particularly when considering a complex cable route; resolving some difficult aviation issues to attract debt and equity funding; and securing debt financing to fund the construction.

The TLT team was led by Maria Connolly, partner and head of Energy & Renewables and included banking partner, Gary Roscoe; construction partner, Neel Mehta; planning & development partner, Katherine Evans; real estate associate, Matthew Grimwood; and corporate associate, Kay Hobbs.

Maria Connolly said: “Against a backdrop of political uncertainty in the wind industry, Twin Rivers Wind Farm is a significant project for our long-standing client, helping them deliver on their commitment to the renewables sector.”

This deal builds on TLT's Energy & Renewables sector expertise, particularly in the wind industry. The team has advised on over several hundred wind projects, in connection with site acquisition, financing or the sale or purchase of consented/operational projects.
