Kremlin Associates has successfully had its plans for a new hotel in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter recommended for planning approval.
TLT advised Kremlin Associates in its purchase of the site last year, which it plans to redevelop into a 63-bedroom four star hotel with conferencing and leisure facilities. The firm will continue to advise Kremlin throughout the development process.
The 1950s office building, which won a competition to become the official War Memorial Building, previously provided a home for charities linked to the Armed Forces and has been used for office accommodation in the last few years.
Known in Belfast for being the former owners of Northern Ireland’s best-known gay venues, Kremlin Associates considers that the proposed alterations will "enhance the appearance of the existing structure, which in turn will make a more positive contribution to the character of the conservation area at this location."
Andre Graham, Director at Kremlin Associates commented: "The purchase of this iconic Belfast building marks the exciting next stage for our business. The TLT team helped us take the first steps in making our ambitious plans for its redevelopment a reality. They really impressed with their excellent commercial advice and support throughout the process."
TLT real estate partner Kathryn Forde advised Kremlin Associates. TLT's real estate group is one of the UK's largest with over 100 property lawyers advising across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
TLT opened in Northern Ireland in 2012, growing to over 50 people since launch bringing in partners including Andrew Ryan (energy & renewables), Katharine Kimber (financial services), Judith Allen (real estate) and Richard Houliston (financial services).
