Senior partner at TLT Robert Bourns has taken office as vice president of The Law Society, the professional association that represents solicitors in England and Wales. His focus will be to maintain the trust and confidence of a diverse profession, including in-house and general counsel in industry and public service, alongside private practice.
Robert joined The Law Society Council in 2011 and was elected deputy vice president in 2014. He is an experienced advocate and employment lawyer, with particular expertise relating to TUPE, insolvency, partnership (including LLP), the exiting of senior executives and partners and issues concerning professional conduct.
As a past Secretary and President of Bristol Law Society and Secretary of the Association of South Western Law Societies, Robert has been and remains actively engaged in the debate around regulatory change in the legal profession.
He is a trustee of a number of local and national charities, with a strong focus on projects which promote social mobility by raising levels of awareness and attainment..
