Employee ownership has seen real growth in recent years driven by a resurgence of values-led entrepreneurs. It also received a boost with the introduction of the 2014 finance act, which removed the disincentive for owners to sell their businesses into the ‘trust’ of their employees, and recent converts have included Riverford Organics, Aardman Animation, Richer Sounds.
Ben Watson, head of Tax and Incentives at TLT, recently took part in a panel discussion all about employee ownership as part of Stir to Action's online festival.
The panel was chaired by Jeremy Gadd of J Gadd Associates. Simon Crichton, Triodos’s acting head of business banking, joined the conversation alongside Deb Oxley, chief executive of the Employee Ownership Association (EOA) and David Sproxton, co-founder of Aardman Animations.
