Robin Staunton leads TLT's Turnaround team and its Independently Owned Businesses Initiative.
Specialising in corporate transactions, restructuring and turnaround, he acts for a number of the firm's larger privately owned business clients, typified by a close identity between proprietors and company.
Much of his work relates to structuring and business solutions and corporate problem solving, often in the role of "external general counsel".
His main areas of work include corporate disposals and acquisitions, frequently grooming companies and groups for retirement or trade exits. He handles complex group reorganisations and restructurings, many of them tax driven.
Since 2005, Robin has specialised in corporate turnaround, usually acting for companies in distressed situations, helping to devise and implement recovery solutions. He frequently works with members of the Institute for Turnaround and is chair of its West & Wales region. While rescue is always the primary objective, this may include planning pre-packed sales, often with a buy-back strategy.
Robin has particular expertise in the IT, technology, publishing and other media sectors and in commercialisation agreements and intellectual property exploitation.
He qualified in 1983, joined the firm in 1986 and became a partner in 1988.
