Ayla is a senior regulatory lawyer working in TLT’s Commercial team, specialising in State aid, procurement, public law and international trade law. She joined TLT in 2020.
Ayla is praised for her in depth knowledge of subsidies rules in particular, and her ability to give pragmatic and commercially focused advice. She has extensive experience of leading and managing high profile, multi-million pound projects involving government assistance. She has acted for blue chip multinationals, has been the key State aid advisor to central government departments and has also acted for high profile research and arts institutions. Ayla has also advised a number of businesses and public bodies on the implications of Brexit from a regulatory perspective.
Ayla has also previously worked as an in-house legal advisor for an economic development agency, providing aid to a variety of sectors in Scotland. This previous experience has given her insight into the pressures and drivers faced by authorities, allowing her to more effectively advise providers and recipients of subsidies on practical solutions for addressing risk, while maximising their commercial opportunities.
