Every week our staff actively engage in pro bono work, using their expertise to support initiatives, organisations and people that might not otherwise be able to get the legal advice they need.
Here are some examples of the type of pro bono work we get involved with:
- We supported the Island Trust, a charity that provides sailing opportunities for disadvantaged young people. As well as pro bono legal advice throughout the build stage of a new schooner, we gave the charity cash donations and hosted the launch event in our offices. We continue to support the Island Trust with pro bono advice.
- Several of our employees supported a local independent cinema and dedicated media centre with pro bono legal advice, including a license conversion and reviewing the terms and conditions for their website. Our employment team provides ongoing pro bono advice through the Avon & Bristol Law Centre.
- Our Competition team has been a member of the nationally coordinated Competition Pro Bono Scheme since its inception, providing free expert advice to individuals and businesses that believe that their rights under the European Community Treaty and/or UK competition law have been infringed or who are concerned that they may be infringing.
- A number of our people provided support to 'Radio in Schools', a digital initiative to develop ICT skills in young people.
