Every week our staff actively engage in pro bono work, using their expertise to support initiatives, organisations and people that might not otherwise be able to get the legal advice they need.
Here are some examples of the type of pro bono work we get involved with:
- We have supported Watershed, a leading UK film culture and digital media centre, for over 10 years, providing pro bono advice to that organisation and to many of the creative technology businesses that it supports. This has involved mentoring start-ups on the REACT research & development programme, providing a monthly free legal surgery for residents of the Pervasive Media Studio and providing IP training and other support to creative technology businesses on Watershed's Artful InnovationTM business development programme.
- Our Competition team has been a member of the nationally coordinated Competition Pro Bono Scheme since its inception, providing free expert advice to individuals and businesses that believe that their rights under the European Community Treaty and/or UK competition law have been infringed or who are concerned that they may be infringing.
- We supported the Island Trust, a charity that provides sailing opportunities for disadvantaged young people. As well as pro bono legal advice throughout the build stage of a new pilot cutter, we gave the charity cash donations and hosted the launch event in our offices.
