Loan portfolio services

We have an impressive track record in acting on portfolio acquisitions and sales.

What makes us stand out is our ability to advise on all aspects of a portfolio sale - from negotiating the sale documents themselves, to advising on templates and regulatory issues (including relevant permissions, due diligence on documentation and processes and procedures), to resourcing large due diligence projects cost-effectively, and handling large scale transfers of portfolios and litigation.

We act for selling lenders, loan servicers, traditional debt purchasers and other acquiring funds. As well as traditional portfolio sales and acquisitions, we have significant experience in dealing with forward flow sales.

We have worked on a wide variety of consumer and commercial loan books, including:

  • equity release (both lifetime mortgages and home reversion plans)
  • credit card debt (including where the borrower is in an IVA or protected trust deed)
  • consumer loans, retail finance, motor finance and mobile home finance
  • impaired overdrafts
  • mortgage shortfall debt
  • residential mortgages
  • shared equity mortgages
  • commercial real estate
  • leveraged loan connections

The consequences of buyers and sellers not meeting their statutory and regulatory duties when conducting a debt sale and managing a loan book can be severe. We have stand-out capability and experience in consumer credit and regulatory aspects of portfolio work, allowing us to spot the potential pitfalls for clients and ensure the transaction proceeds swiftly and smoothly.

With offices across England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, we are a one-stop shop solution for portfolio work that covers all UK jurisdictions.

We also regularly deal with complex off-shore structures and, as a result, have worked alongside a network of contacts at a range of law firms in each of the key off-shore jurisdictions.
