Competition & EU law

Competition law impacts everything from restrictions in commercial arrangements to M&A activity to state funding and other support. Our competition team advises on this complex area, helping businesses use competition law for their commercial advantage.

We strive to understand our clients' business and the markets in which they operate. This means that our advice is not only technically excellent and commercially astute, but also relevant to our client's individual situation, strategy and budget.

We avoid jargon and focus on delivering positive solutions that are easily understood. Indeed, the legal directories recognise us for our "genuine expertise" and our ability to "provide competition law advice on a very accessible level". Importantly, we get off the fence. We give a clear and commercial view that our clients can rely on.

Our clients include international household names, FTSE100 listed companies, trade associations active in both Westminster and Brussels and, in the context of state aid work, government departments and public authorities.

We have in-depth sector knowledge, derived from advising a wide range of businesses and representative bodies in the automotive, construction materials, consumer goods, energy, financial services, leisure, real estate, retail and technology sectors. We advise on all aspects of competition law ranging from merger notifications to cartel and market investigations.

We were highly commended by the Financial Times' Innovative Lawyers report for our pro-active "cutting edge" approach to the provision of competition law services. Our lobbying activities and regular participation at high level UK ministerial and European Commission roundtable meetings means we help shape the competition law agenda for our clients, we don't just interpret the rules.

To further support our clients, we provide a range of tools to complement our competition advisory services. This includes tailored competition law training and materials, compliance audits and follow-up sales force surgeries.
