Civil Partnerships

Since December 2005, same sex couples have been able to enter into a civil partnership. This is by and large very similar to a heterosexual couple getting married and leads to similar rights and responsibilities. Furthermore, if a civil partnership breaks down and the couple have their partnership dissolved then the court has the power to make order resolving financial matters, which is similar to the courts powers when a couple get divorced.

This is a complex area of law which we specialise in. We can deal with all aspects ranging from the couple wishing to enter into a pre-civil-partnership agreement (similar to a pre-nuptial) to dissolving the civil partnership, to dealing with the division of property and assets on a breakdown of the relationship.
