The name of Constant & Constant is known worldwide for its specialist maritime expertise. Operating out of our London and Piraeus offices, our Maritime & International Trade team acts for clients in every area of the shipping business including ship owners and charterers, hull and cargo insurers, P&I and Defence Clubs, salvage and tug companies, shipbuilders, banks, marine engineering companies, ship and chartering brokers, oil companies, port authorities and Government agencies.
We act for clients in the Far East, Indian sub continent, Middle East, US and Europe.
The team advises on dispute resolution matters and handles cases before the High Court as well as London arbitration. Our specialists assist with admiralty (salvage, collisions, wreck removal etc.), dry shipping (charterparty and bill of lading claims), MOA and shipbuilding disputes, marine insurance claims and international trade disputes, as well as general litigation matters.
Recent examples of our work include:
- Acting on the instructions of the Commercial Court on the sale of an oil rig in the Middle East
- Acting for Indian shipping company in its dispute with German agents who were charged with the responsibility of handling its containers
- Acting for an Indian bank on the provision of finance for the acquisition of Bulk Carriers to be registered on the Panamanian Registry
- Acting for a US lender on the provision of finance for the construction of three Chinese Bulk carriers to be registered in the Marshall Islands
