Franchising
TLT has been involved in franchising since 1986 and has been an Affiliate of the British Franchise Association (BFA) since December 1992. To date we have developed or established over 50 franchised businesses both in the UK and abroad and we are well-known to consultants operating in the area and the franchising units of the BFA affiliated banks. We have been involved with successful franchises in a wide range of industries, from mobile drain clearance and plumbing to bookshops, from estate agencies to broadband services, from financial services to photo processing, and from human resource consultancy to re-fill and re-manufacture of ink and laser cartridges.
We offer a full legal service to franchises. We are interested in long term relationships. Our ‘business ally’ ethic means our input can be extended from the franchise agreement and other legal issues to advising on the strategic development of your business.
One of our lawyers is a BFA mediator and we are quite used to effective handling and resolution of any disputes that can arise between franchisors and franchisees from time to time.
For franchisees seeking a legal review of a standard franchise agreement we can offer the following initial services:
- Written Report - this involves an assessment of the agreement and preparation of a 5-6 page report dealing with the main terms and pointing out any particular points of interest.
- 2-3 hour meeting - this involves a meeting at our offices. We would essentially go over the same grounds as in 1 above, but allows the opportunity to feed off our experience and ask questions.
