Group/Team Structure:
The Business Development Team works very closely with the Managing Partner supporting the development and co-ordination of TLT's strategic and business development objectives. Working across the London and Bristol offices, the team's responsibilities are concentrated on client care and relationship management, new business management, external and internal communications and the development of the TLT brand.
This progressive team of 14 is led by the Business Development Director and work includes developing the Firm's CRM programme, researching and tracking new business opportunities, managing corporate hospitality and seminars, website and intranet development, brand management, communications including brochures, newsletters and other branded materials and media liaison.
The Role:
The focus of the role is to manage and develop the Communications Team and be responsible for the drafting, approval and production of a range of communications material (both internal and external) ensuring they meet business and quality requirements and are 'on brand'. These include:
Printed material such as newsletters, legal updates, deal sheets, sales aids and other ad hoc material
On line communications such as the website, intranet and extranets

Key Tasks and Duties
Day to day management of the Communications Team including the workflow and resource management, staff development and training
Managing the development, review and maintenance of communications material in line with the firm's strategic objectives, brand, house style and quality requirements
Project management of stand-alone projects
Managing a range of external agencies & suppliers
Budget planning and management
Overseeing the Business Development Process Bible in respect of communications activities. Ensuring processes and standards are implemented and adhered to, making recommendations to drive out efficiencies.
Further developing and promoting our communications function as a centre of excellence
Encouraging creativity & innovation within the team
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
A graduate with at least 4-5 years experience in a similar role, preferably in a professional services environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential
A flair for writing compelling and engaging copy in 'house style'
A good understanding of all aspects of communications, including online, print and press
A sense of leadership and track record of managing and developing a small team is a key requirement
A team player, good at building rapport and excellent interpersonal skills
Experience of managing external suppliers and agencies
Highly organised with strong project management skills
Ability to multi-task, has good time management and stays calm and accurate under pressure.
Good understanding and proven track record in budget management
Proven problem-solving capability
Excellent document skills
Excellent proof reading skills and attention to detail eg with regard to grammar, spelling and punctuation
A sound knowledge of areas of legal expertise relating to industries and sectors
Excellent knowledge of InterAction, Word, Excel, iManage, and PowerPoint required. Knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar would be advantageous
An understanding of regulatory requirements relating to Direct Marketing activity would be advantageous
