    The team
    The Corporate team of 24, covering both Bristol & London offices, is part of a wider 75 strong, closely integrated Commercial Services Group. Corporate Partner John Wood heads this ambitious team which is highly regarded by Legal 500 2008 as one of the top 3 firms for Corporate and Commercial in the South West, and beat regional rivals to the title of Corporate Law Firm of 2007 in the South West Deal Awards.

    Most of the Corporate team's work is M & A, with a growing capital markets practice and complimentary skills in acquisition finance, restructuring, corporate tax, insolvency and competition.

    Recent deal highlights have been the £326m Punch portfolio disposal to Admiral Inns, the £63m disposal by Avon Rubber plc of its automotive products division across multiple jurisdictions and the £30m acquisition by Alfred McAlpine plc of Enviros Group.

    Main Purpose of the Job
    To assist the Bristol Corporate Partners

    Key Tasks and Duties
  • The post holder will be expected to draft, advise on and negotiate corporate transactional documentation, including the key share and asset purchase agreements and some private equity documentation (although no prior experience of the latter is required.
  • This is a client facing role in which the post holder will have the opportunity to become involved in business development activities.
  • It is a close knit, highly flexible team, in which there are no rigid sub-teams and all team members work with each other on a range of transactions and therefore strong team-working skills are essential.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in training of corporate transactional work for either public or private companies.
  • good drafting skills, with clear, unfussy written presentation.
  • Good technical knowledge of basic company law and a willingness to increase this knowledge.
  • Outgoing personality with good communication skills .
  • Sound negotiation skills and resilience are essential.
  • Energy and enthusiasm.
