    Main Purpose of the Job
    To provide Legal Secretarial assistance to one Partner and one Assistant within the Maritime and International Trade - Shipping Group. To provide assistance to others in the Team and Group when required.

    Key Tasks and Duties
  • Digital dictation (audio typing) min 65 wpm (90% accuracy).
  • Copy typing - min 65 wpm (90% accuracy).
  • Creating/amending documents. (track changes and cross-referencing).
  • Answering telephone calls/dealing with clients/taking messages (professional telephone manner).
  • Filing and general admin duties such as faxing and photocopying.
  • Assisting the Team/Group with overflow typing.
  • Managing diary appointments and making arrangements for meetings (using electronic diaries within outlook).

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Accuracy with strong attention to detail (used to double checking work prior to giving back to partners/fee earners).
  • Good organisational skills and flexibility (adaptable to changes in work patterns and immediate requirements from managers).
  • Previous legal experience is essential and this should ideally be in a med-large law firm.

  • *Up to date working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • * In-house training will be provided where required on these systems however previous knowledge is advantageous.
  • *Up to date (everyday use) of Microsoft package is essential and experience should be at an intermediate level as a minimum requirement.
