TLT wins national legal award

TLT's Managing Partner David Pester has been named Managing Partner of the Year in the prestigious 2007 British Legal Awards. The national awards are held in association with Legal Week magazine and recognise excellence in the legal sector. TLT was also a finalist in the Regional Law Firm and Employment, Pensions, Benefits and Tax Team of the Year categories.

The Managing Partner of the Year award was presented to David in recognition of his strong leadership, management skills and strategic vision, contributing to the success of TLT. He won the award against stiff competition from an impressive list of partners heading up national and London-based firms including Eversheds, Field Fisher Waterhouse, Hammonds, Mischon de Reya and Pannone. 

The heavyweight judging panel of senior business figures included Mark Harding, group general counsel at Barclays; Sir Martin Sorrell, chief executive of WPP; Guy Dawson, founding partner of investment banking boutique Tricorn Partners; and Jeremy Hand, vice chairman of the British Venture Capital Association.

David, a corporate finance specialist, started his career as a trainee solicitor at Lawrence Tucketts, which merged with Trumps to create TLT in 2000. David was appointed Managing Partner of TLT in 2002 and is widely credited for the firm's sustained growth and increasingly national reputation. Headquartered in Bristol and with an expanding office in London, TLT now employs over 700 people servicing a national client base.

Commenting on his award success David Pester said, "We're delighted to have received this award. Whilst it recognises the role of the Managing Partner, the key to our success has been the energy and commitment of everyone at TLT."

This nationwide recognition is the latest accolade for TLT, which beat regional rivals to the title of 'Corporate Law Firm of the Year' in the South West Deal Awards. TLT was also was highly commended for client service in the Financial Times' review of innovative law firms earlier this year.

The award ceremony was attended by about 1100 representatives of the legal profession including large City firms and regional firms.
